While you can probably already spell this letter in both upper and lower case, it’s time to learn how to draw a bubble letter E.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through 6 steps to draw this letter in a fun way. Then we’ll show you how to color it in and add some extra fun touches.
There’s plenty of room for creativity when creating and adding to this design, so don’t be afraid to experiment and have fun!
How to Draw A Bubble Letter E
Step 1
For this tutorial, we will draw the uppercase version of this letter while creating your bubble with the letter E. In the first step, we’ll start drawing the back of the letter.
To do this, we draw a sufficiently long vertical line. As you can see in the reference image, this line has a slight curve.
The reason it’s curved and not quite straight is to make the letter look like it’s made out of a bubble.
This line curves inward at each end because it connects to the branches of the letter E that we’ll draw in the next few steps.
Once you’ve drawn this line as it appears in our reference image, you can move on to step 2, where we’ll add more to the letter.
Step 2
Next, we’ll draw the top “branch” of the letter E. This will connect to the top of the line you drew in step 1.
In our reference image, you’ll notice that the shape of this first branch is somewhat thumb-shaped. It is drawn with another slightly curved line, then curves sharply.
After drawing this branch, let’s add another curved line under it. This is the space between this branch and the middle one that we will draw later.
If you come across parts of this drawing that give you trouble, you can draw them with a pencil and then touch them up with a pen when satisfied.
Now that we’ve drawn this branch, we can move to step 3.
Step 3
In step 3 of this guide, we will create a mirror image of the lines drawn in the previous step.
This time the branch we are drawing is at the bottom, so we will draw it similar to how you drew the top branch of your bubble letter E.
It extends from the end of the bottom line and then curves inward. Although it’s drawn similarly to the previous step, it doesn’t have to be the same.
You’ll notice that in our example, the bottom branch is slightly thicker than the top one.
Like the first branch, a short vertical curved line is attached to this one.
This leaves a gap in the middle.
In the next step of the guide, we’re going to fill that gap with the final branch, so let’s do it now!
Step 4
In this fourth step of the guide, we’re going to draw the third and final arm of your letter E. Not only is this the final arm, but it also finishes the outline before you start on some interior details.
Add another curved line to draw this last branch that starts and ends inside the space between the other two branches.
As you can see in the reference image, this third central branch will be slightly shorter than the previous ones. Once it’s there, you can move on to the next step for the finishing touches!
Before doing this, make sure the outline is exactly how you want it. If you used a pencil to plan, now is the best time to erase it before proceeding.
Step 5
The outline is now fully complete, so later, we will focus on adding some interior details and detailing. This makes the letter feel less flat and look more like a bubble.
The first step would be to draw a small oval shape on it. This oval goes near the top of the letter, as shown in the reference image.
We draw this oval because the letter appears to reflect light, which helps bring it to life.
If you want to create the illusion of multiple light sources being reflected, you can add a few more ovals to different sections of the letter.
Once you’re happy with the reflections on your bubble letter, we can add some curved lines inside the outline.
These go close to the inner sections of the outline to give the letter more depth. Again, add a few more if you want to make your letter even fuller.
Before moving on to the final step, here’s your chance to add some fun extra details. Here you can let off steam and get creative!
One idea is to choose a subject, starting with E. Then, you can add small details or pictures around the letter to fit the theme.
You can think about it now, but we’ll look at other ideas after adding color in the next step.
Step 6
We now have the final step of the guide, and this might be the best part! Here we’ll add some colors to your letter E bubble to bring it to life.
The possibilities here are endless, and you can get creative with them. In our reference image, we have shown you the colors we would choose for this design.
You can try combining what we made with your favorite painting tools! As you can see, we’ve gone for a soft turquoise color scheme.
We didn’t stick to solid colors and instead used a gradient of light colors that faded into a darker one. This helps add even more depth to the bubble.
Of course, you can also use other colors that you like! You don’t even have to stick to just one color set.
It could be fun to draw patterns and shapes while incorporating different artistic mediums. This is your chance to show how creative you can be with colors, so enjoy!
